DULUTH, Minn. – The College of St. Scholastica women's hockey program closed out the 2025-26 season with a historic milestone, as senior goaltender Makenzie Cole (Cohasset, MN/Grand Rapids HS) finished her career as the program's all-time saves leader with 2,316 stops.

Cole surpassed the previous record of 2,227 saves, set by former standout Lexi Thomaczek, cementing her place in the Saints' record book as one of the most accomplished netminders in program history. Cole's record ranks fifth all-time in MIAC women's hockey history.

The milestone came during a dominant final weekend performance, as Cole backstopped St. Scholastica to a series sweep of St. Catherine. Over two games, she recorded 56 total saves while allowing just one goal, anchoring a defensive effort that secured six crucial conference points to close the regular season.

For her efforts, Cole was named MIAC Women's Hockey Athlete of the Week, adding conference recognition to an already historic finish to her collegiate career.

Cole's consistency and durability defined her time in a Saints sweater. Across her career, she served as the backbone of the program, routinely facing high shot volumes while delivering steady, composed play in goal. Her record-setting 2,316 saves stand as a testament not only to her longevity, but to her resilience and competitive presence in the crease.

As a team, the Saints concluded the regular season with an 11-12-2 overall record, finishing just shy of the fifth and final playoff position in the MIAC standings. Despite narrowly missing the postseason, St. Scholastica closed the year with momentum, highlighted by Cole's historic achievement and the weekend sweep.
