MANKATO, Minn. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica men's soccer (13-2, 10-0 UMAC) shutout Bethany Lutheran College (4-9-2, 4-4-2 UMAC) Saturday afternoon to earn a 1-0 victory.

Tom Corcoran (Warrington, England/Great Sankey HS, Priestley College) was credited with the assist on the play, his ninth of the year. As it turns out that would be all the scoring CSS would need to pull out a victory in the contest.
St. Scholastica used a relentless attack to keep the Vikings on their heels and the majority of the play in Bethany Lutheran's half of the field. CSS recorded 10 shots and five corners in the first half alone while keeping Bethany off the stat sheet in both categories.
The second half was much of the same for both teams. St. Scholastica continued to be the more dangerous team piling up eight more shots and nine more corner kicks while the Vikings just couldn't get it going offensively managing just two shots.
The bright spot in the game for Bethany Lutheran was goalkeeper Matt Bitter who finished with six saves allowing just the one first half goal.
Saints goalkeeper
Jacob Ballheimer (Gerrards Cross, England/Chalfonts Community College) recorded his sixth shutout of the season with a one save performance. Ballheimer continues to look the part of the best goalkeeper in the conference as he leads the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference in goals-against, shutouts, goals-against average, and wins while also logging the most minutes played of any other UMAC keeper.
The victory marks the 10
th straight for CSS as they remain undefeated in conference play and strengthen their hold on first place in the UMAC standings.
St. Scholastica is back at home on Tuesday to take on the University of Wisconsin-Superior at Ordean Stadium with kickoff at 6:30 p.m.
