| By:
Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com)- With aggressive play and good shooting by Trevor Morlock (Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS (Minn., Crookston)), the St Scholastica men's basketball team took home an 84-69 win in the Reif Gymnasium Friday night against Martin Luther College.

The Saints started the game strong getting up to a six-point lead to start the game.  The game was back and forth in score and momentum, but the Saints managed to keep the lead.

Saints turnovers around the eight minute mark allowed the Knights to come within two points of CSS.  Steve Golobich (Mountain Iron, Minn./Mountain Iron-Buhl HS (Mesabi Range CC)) then sunk a three and the Saints got back on track.  They ended the half strong up 41-30.

Leading scorer for the first half was Morlock with 13 points.  Golobich chipped in nine points with three 3-pointers.  Craig Wilke was the leading scorer for the Knights with nine points followed by Galen Holzheuter with eight.

The Saints ended the half with 10 turnovers; however they were 54 percent outside the 3-point line compared to Martin Luther's 20 percent.

The second half started off on a cold note for both teams with shots failing to fall.  The Saints kept up strong physical play shown by their 17 fouls for the half.

The Knights got back into the game at the free throw line as they came within nine points of the Saints in the last five minutes.  The Saints stayed up due to aggressive play and good ball handling by LaMonte Hall (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS (Saint Mary’s)) and Julius Johnson (Minneapolis, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) in breaking the press defense.

Jake Naslund (Barnum, Minn./Barnum HS)'s two-handed dunk in the last minute of the game signaled the win for CSS.

Morlock lit-up his home court tonight with 30 points for the game and nine rebounds.  The last 30-point performance by a Saint was Jonah Dahlman (Braham, Minn./Braham HS) in January of 2012. Golobich chipped in 13 points for the night. The Saints showed an improvement in ball handling with only five turnovers in the second half.

CSS ended at 45.5 percent outside the 3-point line after draining 10 three's for the game.  They also stayed strong from the field at 48 percent.

Holzheuter led for the Knights ()3-12, 2-2 UMAC) with 22 points, followed by Todd Brassow who had a strong second half and ended the game with 17 points.

The Saints (5-10, 2-2 UMAC) will have their Alumni Game tomorrow starting at 11 a.m. in the Reif.  They will again take to the court at 3 p.m. to face Bethany Lutheran. The action can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
