Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WHITEWATER, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica baseball team was swept by fourth-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Wednesday night by scores of 15-5 and 5-3 in a nonconference doubleheader at Prucha Field.

The Saints dropped game one 15-5 in eight innings. The Saints jumped out in front of the Warhawks (30-5) on a Jake Casareto (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) ground-rule double in the top of the first to score Kyle Flagstad (Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS).

Then after a two-run home run by Whitewater in the bottom half, Andy Schwantes (Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley HS (Minn.-Duluth)) hit a solo home run and Austin Colvard (Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) had a RBI single in the second to give the Saints a 3-2 lead. However, the Warhawks answered with three runs in the bottom frame and then added four more in the fourth to take a 9-3 lead.

Casareto and Kyle Jensen (Wyoming, Minn./Forest Lake HS) recorded RBIs later in the game, but it was not enough as Whitewater scored six more runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to win 15-5.

Jake Nystrom (Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) picked up the loss for the Saints, going four innings. The CSS offense had 13 hits in the contest with Casareto and Colvard each going 3-for-4.

In the nightcap, the Saints once again got out in front of the Warhawks on a Casareto RBI single that plated Flagstad. However, a pair of solo home runs by Whitewater in the second made it 2-1 Warhawks.

CSS would tie it up at 2-2 in the third on a Flagstad RBI double. The Saints took a 3-2 lead in the fifth when Colvard scored on a Flagstad fielder's choice.

The Warhawks regained the lead in the bottom frame with a RBI double and a sacrifice fly to make it 4-3. Whitewater tacked on another run on the sixth to make the final score 5-3.

Jordan Risse (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington HS ) earned the loss for the Saints, going 4.2 innings. Colvard had three hits again in game two to lead the offense, while Flagstad drove in a pair of runs.

The Saints (20-9) will get back to conference action on Friday against North Central University. The location and time of that doubleheader have not been determined. Please check csssaints.com Thursday for more details about those games.
