Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FT. PIERCE, Fla. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica baseball team was on both sides of a pair of 1-0 scores this morning against 12th-ranked Keystone College (Pa.). The Saints dropped the first game of the doubleheader 1-0 only to respond and win game two 1-0.

The two 1-0 scores in the doubleheader are the first known times to have taken place in St. Scholastica baseball history.

Kyle Jensen (Wyoming, Minn./Forest Lake HS) got the start for the Saints in game one. Jensen struck out four in six innings and allowed just three hits, but would be hit with the hard luck loss. Keystone's Rob Rodgers was just as good for the Giants, striking out six and also allowed three hits in the complete-game shutout.

CSS stranded a runner at third in the first and the Giants left the bases loaded in the third. The Saints returned the favor by leaving the bases loaded in the fifth.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Giants took advantage of back-to-back errors by the Saints to begin the inning and ultimately hit a walk-off single to left to end it by a final score of 1-0.

The loss marked the first time the Saints had been shutout in a game in 180 consecutive contests, dating back to a 2-0 loss to St. Thomas on March 1, 2009.

Game two was a mirror image of game one. Mickie Keuning (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Angelo State)) got the start for the Saints and struck out five and allowed only two hits in five innings of work. His counterpart Patrick Robinson struck out six in six innings and allowed four hits.

Keystone got a triple in the top of the first, but would leave the runner stranded. CSS then left runners at second and third in the bottom of the second.

After two quick outs in the bottom of the fifth, Austin Colvard (Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) got on base with a bunt single. Parker Olson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minn.-Duluth)) followed with a single of his own to put runners at first and second. Kyle Flagstad (Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) then came to plate and would reach on a bang-bang play at first after the groundball was bobbled by the second baseman. As this was happening, Colvard rounded third and came in to score to put the Saints up 1-0.

Thomas Rogers (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS ) came in to shut the door the final two innings and earn his third save of the season as CSS took game two 1-0. Keuning earns his second win of the season. Olson had two of St. Scholastica's four hits. Keystone is now 9-4 after the split.

The Saints (4-3) will not play a varsity game until Friday when they will face both Hilbert College (N.Y.) and Bridgewater State University (Mass.) in two, nine-inning game. The Hilbert game is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. local time. The Bridgewater contest will start at approximately 12:30 p.m. Listen to all of the action live on Saints Sports Net.
