DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team improved to 4-0 with a 7-2 victory over Hamline University Saturday afternoon at the Arrowhead Tennis Center.
CSS has won three of its first four matches by the same 7-2 score. The Saints swept doubles play to begin with as the No. 1 team of
Josh Stainer (Portsmouth, England/South Downs College) and
Cullen Combs (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) won 8-5. The No. 2 duo of
James Mack (Portsmouth, England/Cams Hill School) and
Kolin Dean (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander HS) won by a score of 8-4. The No. 3 tandem of
Tyler Bates (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) and
Cody Mauston (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) also won by a final tally of 8-6.
In singles play, Mack remained unbeaten at the No. 2 spot with a 6-3, 6-2 win.
Nick Lambrecht (Stacy, Minn./North Branch HS (Minn.-Duluth)) did the same at the No. 4 spot by scores of 6-4, 6-3.
Dylan Kelly (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis South HS) cruised at the No. 5 spot 6-0, 6-1 and
Mike Fontana (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Gustavus Adolphus)) was the final winner at the No.6 position 6-0, 6-2.
The Saints (4-0) will head over to Moorhead tomorrow for a make-up of last weekend's postponed matches at Concordia College. Action is set to resume around 4 p.m.
