Box Score WAUSAU, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The 13th-ranked St. Scholastica men's hockey team scored three second period goals on its way to a 4-2 victory over No. 1-ranked and unbeaten St. Norbert College in a non-conference contest at the Marathon Park Ice Arena on Saturday.

The victory over the top-ranked Green Knights was the first for St. Scholastica under Head Coach Mark Wick. Prior to tonight, a Wick-led Saints squad had been 0-3-0 against No. 1-ranked teams, all St. Norbert.

Chad Golanowski (Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Carroll HS (Calgary Canucks-AJHL) ) put the Saints on the board seven minutes and 25 seconds into the opening period. Alex Valenti (Blaine, Wash./Bellingham HS (Merritt-BCHL) ) and Matt Malenstyn (Surrey, British Columbia/Tamanawis Secondary (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) had the assists.

Brandon Millin (Port Moody, British Columbia/Heritage Woods HS (Notre Dame Hounds-SJHL) ) made it 2-0 CSS over five minutes into the second period. Steven Phee (Balzac, Alberta/George McDougall HS (Canmore-AJHL) ) and Malenstyn were credited with the assists. Keegan Bruce (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham HS (Weyburn-SJHL) ) scored for the third straight game with 7:19 remaining in the period. Ryne Bodger (Duncan, British Columbia/Cowichan Secondary (Merritt-BCHL) ) and Joel Paiement (Okotoks, Alberta/Holy Trinity Academy (Calgary Canucks-AJHL) ) had the assists.

Golanowski found the back of the net for his second of the night with 1:52 left in the second period with a short-handed tally. The Green Knights scored on that same power-play 13 seconds later to make it 4-1 CSS at the second intermission.

The Green Knights got one more goal in the third period, but that would be it as the Saints prevailed 4-2.

St. Norbert out-shot CSS 41-27 for the game. Colin Rundell (Tees, Alberta/Lacombe Composite (Alaska-Fairbanks) ) had 39 saves to pickup the win for the Saints. Tony Kujava had 23 saves in the loss for the Green Knights (9-1-0). CSS was 5-for-6 on the penalty-kill for the night.

The game was played in Wausau as the two teams decided to split the travel and showcase college hockey in Wausau. The game was sponsored by the Marathon County Youth Hockey Association. All proceeds from the game were directed to MCYHA's fund for improving the rink at Marathon Park. The Saints and Green Knights are both part of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA), but tonight's game was a non-conference contest.

The Saints (6-1-2) will be back at home next weekend when they host Lake Forest College (Ill.) for a two-game series at Mars Lakeview Arena. Friday's contest will begin at 7 p.m. and the action can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
