Saints Fall at Bemidji

Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team was defeated by Division II Bemidji State University 103-56 Saturday behind a 25-point effort from Zach Noreen and 18 points from Jake Schalow.

The Saints jumped to an early 8-0 lead behind two early 3-pointers from Steve Golobich (Mountain Iron, Minn./Mountain Iron-Buhl HS (Mesabi Range CC)) and Jake Naslund (Barnum, Minn./Barnum HS), respectively.

The Beavers would then go on a 22-2 scoring run to put themselves up by 12 with just under 13 minutes left in the half.  They would go on to build a halftime lead of 49-27 over the Saints.

The Beavers had an 18-1 advantage in second-chance points in the first half.

Bemidji would not slow down in the second half, and by the nine minute mark in the half the Beavers had built up an 85-39 lead. 

They would go on to hold the Saints to 22-of-67 shooting and force 15 total turnovers en route to a 103-56 victory. Bemidji out-scored the Saints 62-32 in the paint.

The Saints were led by Trevor Morlock (Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS (Minn., Crookston)) with 11 points and six boards, while teammate  Golobich tallied 10 points in 21 minutes of play.

St. Scholastica (0-4) will next play at home against Bridge Rival UW-Superior with that game set to tip off at 7:30 p.m. Monday night. Catch all of the action live on Saints Sports Net.
