DULUTH, Minn. – The College of St. Scholastica has added Sam Burt to its men's basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach. Burt brings eight seasons of professional playing experience and a background in scouting and player development to the Saints.

A graduate of NCAA Division II Fresno Pacific University, Burt was a two-time team captain and earned all-conference honors during his senior season. Following his collegiate career, he played professionally in seven countries: Germany, Italy, Spain, Iceland, Uruguay, Libya and Portugal.

Burt's international career exposed him to a range of basketball cultures, coaching philosophies and styles of play. Those experiences helped shape his approach to coaching and his understanding of the skills players need to succeed at different levels of the game.

During his professional career, Burt also pursued coaching opportunities in the offseason, working under EuroLeague coach Emilio Kovacic as a skills development coach and scout. In that role, he gained experience in player evaluation, individual skill development, scouting and preparation.

For the past three summers, Burt has worked with players throughout the Twin Cities, including top high school talent and international professionals. His instruction emphasizes technical skill development alongside the competitive mindset and understanding of the game he developed during his professional career.
