MINNEAPOLIS – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team blanked the University of Minnesota Morris 9-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Men's Tennis Tournament semifinals Friday evening at the Baseline Tennis Center.
In doubles action, the No. 1 team of
Jacob Engelstad (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) and
Kevin Hilpert (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) won 8-2. With that win, Engelstad broke the program record for doubles wins in a career (54). At No. 2, the tandem of
James Mack (Portsmouth, England/Cams Hill School) and
Kolin Dean (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander HS) shut out their opponents 8-0. Finally, the No. 3 team of
Tom Schneuer (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS) and
Nick Lind (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) won 8-1.
In singles play, Engelstad won at the No. 1 spot 6-2, 6-2. Mack won at No. 2 by scores of 6-1, 6-1.
Dylan Kelly (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis South HS) was your winner at the No. 3 spot 6-1, 6-2. Hilpert at No. 4,
Nick Lambrecht (Stacy, Minn./North Branch HS (Minn.-Duluth)) at No. 5 and
Alex Nagle (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) at No. 6 all won by scores of 6-0, 6-0. The win breaks the program record for victories in a season.
The Saints (17-7) will play the winner of Northwestern College and Martin Luther College tomorrow at 10 a.m.
