DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica baseball team will be on the road for its final four games of the regular season as the Saints travel to St. Paul this weekend to take on the conference foe Northwestern College on Friday and Saturday and the regional powerhouse University of St. Thomas on Sunday.

St. Scholastica Saints (27-9, 18-0 UMAC)

Northwestern Eagles (24-11, 15-3 UMAC)
The Eagles are coming down the stretch of the season on a hot streak having won seven straight and 16 of their last 18 games coming into this weekend … The Eagles need to sweep the Saints this weekend to be regular season co-champs of the UMAC and earn the top seed in the tournament, while any other scenario will leave them number two or three … Cody Kielsa is best on the team in most of the categories at the plate with a .398 batting average, .619 slugging percentage, 34 runs scored, 45 hits, eight doubles, and four triples … Andy Peterson has had the most success for Northwestern on the mound as he has a 6-3 record with 47 strikeouts and an earned run average of 3.66 in 64.0 innings pitched … Mark Meredith is right behind Peterson with 46 strikeouts in only 40.0 innings pitched.

The Saints and Eagles last met in the first round of the UMAC Tournament last year where CSS came away with an 11-9 victory at Wade Stadium.
#2 St. Thomas Tommies (30-5, 18-0 MIAC)
The Tommies are having an impressive season to say the least being ranked second nationally … The impressive season comes after the Tommies were nearly swept to start the season against St. Scholastica but eked out two 1-run victories over the Saints … Ben Podobinski leads the Tommies this season with 45 hits and 34 runs scored as he has a .395 batting average … Charles Bruchu has accounted for a lot of runs as well leading the team with 28 RBIs and scoring 24 runs of his own … The story of the Tommies' season however is their pitching … Steve Maher is 10-0 with an outstanding 1.61 earned run average and 63 strikeouts in 61.1 innings pitched … Bryce Gapinski is also undefeated at 6-0 with a 2.14 earned run average and 33 strikeouts in 54.2 innings pitched … The Tommies have a doubleheader at Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday before hosting the Saints on Sunday.
