DULUTH, Minn. – In its first match at home in two months, the St. Scholastica men's tennis team fell to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 8-1 on Friday afternoon at the Arrowhead Tennis Center.
The lone win on the day for the Saints came at No. 2 doubles as the team of
Kolin Dean (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander HS) and
James Mack (Portsmouth, England/Cams Hill School) won in a tiebreaker 9-8 (10-8).
Tyler Bates (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) and
Kevin Hilpert (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) also lost in a close match at No. 3 doubles 8-6. The Saints lost all six singles matches in straight sets. The Blugolds improve to 15-7 overall with the win.
The Saints (10-7) will be busy tomorrow playing two dual matches, starting with North Central University at 11 a.m. and then Bethany Lutheran College around 2 p.m. All of the matches are scheduled to take place at Duluth's Central High School.
