Men’s Tennis Wins Second Straight Close Match

MILWAUKEE – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team won its second consecutive match by a 5-4 score on Friday evening against Concordia University-Wisconsin at the Paley Tennis Center.

The matchup was the first between the two programs. The doubles matches were close and could have gone either way, but the Saints took two of the three which ultimately gave the Saints the dual match win. The No. 2 team of Kolin Dean (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander HS) and James Mack (Portsmouth, England/Cams Hill School) won 8-6 and the No. 3 team of Cullen Combs (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) and Tyler Bates (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) won 9-7.

Both teams won three singles matches on the night. James Mack (Portsmouth, England/Cams Hill School) remained unbeaten with a win at the No. 3 spot 6-3, 6-1. Nick Lambrecht (Stacy, Minn./North Branch HS (Minn.-Duluth)) won at No. 5 by scores of 6-1, 6-1 and the Dean won at the No. 6 spot 6-3, 6-0. The Falcons fall to 0-4 on the year.

The Saints (3-3) will head next to Madison, Wis. to face Edgewood College Saturday evening beginning at 6:15 at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
