Men’s Tennis Drops a Pair on Day Two

ORLANDO, Fla. – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team fell to both Principia College (Ill.) and Earlham College (Ind.) by identical 7-2 scores on Tuesday.

The Saints began the day falling to Principia 7-2. The Saints won matches at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 singles. The doubles team of James Mack (Portsmouth, England/Cams Hill School) and Kolin Dean (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander HS) won its match in a tiebreaker 9-8 (10-8). Kevin Hilpert (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) won his singles match 7-5, 6-0. The Panthers improve to 3-0 on the year with the win.

It was the same story against Earlham at night as the Saints won at No.6 singles and No. 3 doubles, falling 7-2 to the Quakers.

Dean won his singles match by a score of 7-6 (7-3), 6-4. The No. 3 doubles team of Cullen Combs (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) and Tyler Bates (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) were also victorious by a score of 8-2. The Quakers improve to 7-1 this season with the win.

The Saints (5-5) will be off tomorrow and will be in action next on Thursday when they face St. Ambrose (Iowa) in the morning.
