MINNEAPOLIS – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team was defeated by Hamline University on Saturday by a 7-2 score at the Baseline Tennis Center.

The Pipers (1-2) were successful in all three double matches, putting the Saints in a hole they could not climb out of. James Mack (Portsmouth, England/Cams Hill School) remained unbeaten in singles play in 2012, with a hard-fought victory at the No. 2 spot 6-7, 6-3, (10-7). Kolin Dean (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander HS) was the only other winner on the day for CSS at the No. 6 spot 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, (10-6).

Both Kevin Hilpert (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) at No. 4 and Nick Lambrecht (Stacy, Minn./North Branch HS (Minn.-Duluth)) at No. 5 suffered close defeats by way of third-set super breakers.

The Saints (1-3) will be in action for the third straight day tomorrow when it squares off with Saint Mary's University in Winona. The action is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
