Men’s Tennis’ Win Streak Snapped

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team's program-best 11-match winning streak came to an end on Thursday with an 8-1 loss at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The Saints fall to a record of 12-10 overall, while the Blugolds, who are ranked 14th in the Central Region, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) improve to 24-5 overall.

The lone winners on the day for the Saints were the No. 3 doubles team of Kevin Hilpert (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) and Dylan Kelly (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis South HS), who won 8-6.

Brendan Anderson (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) played a strong match at No. 4 singles, but fell in a third set super-breaker 6-2, 5-7, (10-8). Kelly also fell in a super-breaker at No. 6 singles 5-7, 6-1, (10-7).

The Saints will play their final regular season dual match next Saturday when they host Northwestern College in the regular season finale in Duluth. Location of the match is yet to be determined, pending weather.
