Men’s Tennis Bucks the Rams

Brendan Anderson breaks program record with 25th career victory at No. 1 doubles

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team shut out North Central University 9-0 on Friday night at the Arrowhead Tennis Center in its first home match since February 19th.

The Saints run their conference winning streak to 90 consecutive matches and improve to 8-9 (5-0 UMAC) this season. The Rams fall to 2-5 (2-4 UMAC).

In doubles play, the No. 1 team of #Jacob Engelstad# and #Brendan Anderson# won 8-5. The win by Anderson gives him a program-best 25 career victories at No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 team of #Erik Conley# and #Kolin Dean# won 8-4 and the No. 3 duo of #Dylan Kelly# and #Tom Schneuer# won 8-0.

In singles play, #Brian Lindberg# won at the No. 1 spot 6-4, 6-0. #Tucker Combs# was forced to a third set super-breaker at No. 2, but prevailed 6-1, 3-6, (10-5).

#Kevin Hilpert# dropped just one game in his 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3 for his seventh straight win. #Nick Lambrecht# won his second collegiate match by scores of 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4. In the No. 5 position, #Nick Lind# won 7-5, 6-1 and at No. 6 #Mike Aro# blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0 for his first collegiate victory.

The Saints will play both Martin Luther College and Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday. The Martin Luther match will begin at 12 p.m. in the Burns Wellness Commons Fieldhouse. They will then play Bethany Lutheran at the Arrowhead Tennis Center at 4 p.m.
