DULUTH, Minn. – The 14th-ranked St. Scholastica baseball team will stop in Chicago on its way back home this afternoon to face Division I University of Illinois-Chicago at Wes Miller Stadium. The game was originally scheduled for Sunday, but the threat of rain in the forecast moved the game up a day.

The Saints are on their way home from a 7-1 Florida trip with their lone loss coming to Gettysburg College (Pa.) by a 3-2 score on Thursday. CSS left Florida on a high-note on Friday after rallying with two outs in the top of the seventh to defeat Richard Stockton College 5-4 in game one and then #Jake Snyder# shutting down the Ospreys in game two 6-1.
St. Scholastica Saints (9-2, 0-0 UMAC)
The Saints have yet to defeat a Division I program (0-9) and have not played a D-I team since the 2002 season … Both of the team's losses have come by 3-2 scores and the Saints had 11 more runners left on base in the two losses combined … CSS has also struggled fielding the ball as Friday's game two victory over Stockton was the first error-free game of the season … Pitching has been tremendous for the Saints early with 2.44 team earned-run-average … Only 23 of the 38 runs given up have been earned … #Brian Marshik# enters today's game on a nine-game hitting streak, while #Joe Link# and #Brandon Peterson# have reached base in every game this year …

The Flames had their home opener on Friday and defeated another team from the Twin Ports, the University of Wisconsin-Superior by a score of 8-1 … The Flames will play the Yellowjackets again prior to playing the Saints today … Today will be the second doubleheader played by the Flames this season … In the first twin-bill, UIC defeated University of Missouri in the first game, but fell in the nightcap … The Flames were swept by second-ranked Vanderbilt University to conclude their 13-game road trip to begin the season, but two of the three losses came by just one run … Alex De LaRosa leads the team with a .333 batting average … Jason Ganek has hit both of IC's home runs and driven in a team-high 11 runs … Matt Salemi leads the pitching staff with a 4.24 earned run average, but is winless on the campaign.
