Men’s Tennis Suffers Two Setbacks in First Florida Action

ORLANDO, Fla. – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team lost a pair of matches on Monday in Orlando, falling to Earlham College (Ind.) 6-3 and then to Saint Ambrose University (Iowa) 8-1.

The Saints (1-7) began the day with a 6-3 loss to Earlham. The Saints fared well in doubles, winning two of the three matches. The No. 1 team if #Jacob Engelstad# and #Dylan Kelly# won 8-6. The No. 3 team of #Cullen Combs# and #Tucker Combs# were victorious 8-5.

However, the Saints would only win one singles match and that was #Brendan Anderson# at the No. 6 spot 6-1, 6-0. The Quakers (4-2) took four of the five singles matches in straight sets.

In the nightcap against NAIA's Saint Ambrose, the Saints fell 8-1. The Saints' only win came at the No. 1 doubles spot as the team of #Kevin Hilpert# and Brendan Anderson (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) won 9-8 (7-3).

The Saints will face Carthage College tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. local time.
