Men’s Tennis Drops a Tight Match to Saint John’s

SARTELL, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team fell 7-2 to Saint John's University on Sunday afternoon, but six of the nine matches were decided by a tiebreaker.

Two of the three doubles matches were decided by tiebreakers, in which the Saints fell in both. CSS's No.3 team of #Kevin Hilpert# and #Brendan Anderson# won its match 8-5.

In singles action, the match at No. 1 was a battle of attrition with #Jacob Engelstad# falling to Fabricio Moncada, the 24th ranked player in the Central Region, by a score of 6-3, 3-6, (17-15). The third set super-breaker is only played up to 10 and you have to win by two. The Saints also fell in super-breakers at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots.

In his first collegiate match, #Dylan Kelly# rallied to win at the No. 4 spot 2-6, 6-4, (10-7).

The Saints will be in action next on Sunday at Concordia-Moorhead to face the Cobbers. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m.
