Men’s Tennis Gets First “W” of the Season

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team defeated Hamline University 5-4 on Saturday afternoon at the Arrowhead Tennis Center.

The Saints were able to take two doubles matches to begin the dual match. The No.1 team of #Jacob Engelstad# and #Dylan Kelly# won 9-7. At No.3, the duo of #Kevin Hilpert# and #Brendan Anderson# prevailed 8-6.

Hamline took the top three spot in singles, but Dylan Kelly (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis South HS) improved to 3-0 with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) victory at No. 4. Kevin Hilpert (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) won at the No. 5 spot 7-6 (7-4), 6-1. Brendan Anderson (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS)'s win gave the Saints their fifth-and-decisive win at the No. 6 spot 6-4, 6-2.

The Saints will be at St. Olaf College and the University of St. Thomas next weekend. The Saints and Oles match on Saturday will be played in Owatonna and will begin at 4 p.m.
