MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota-Morris closed the game on a 17-1 run to rally past the St Scholastica men's basketball team 73-68 on Saturday afternoon at Jim Gremmels Court.
#Brett Tester# got the Saints (7-11, 4-3 UMAC) on the scoreboard early with two of his game-high 22 points. CSS bolstered its lead by going an 18-1 run to take a 25-10 lead nine minutes into the game. A late half spurt by the Cougars (9-9, 5-2 UMAC) made the halftime score 41-35 Saints.
The Saints shot 57-percent from the field for the first half, while Morris shot 50-percent.
Brett Tester (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) had 14 points going into the locker room.
St. Scholastica led by as much as 13 in the second half and the Cougars could only get as close as five in the first 15 minutes of the half. After a 3-pointer by #Jonah Dahlman# made it an 11-point game with 5:09 to play, the Saints went in a drought, not making a single field goal the rest of the way.
With 47 seconds remaining in the game, Morris's Eric Dalbey went 2-for-2 at the charity line to push Morris ahead for good as the Cougars won 73-68.
The Saints ended the night shooting 42-percent from the field while Morris shot 46-percent. Morris' bench contributed 26 points, while CSS had eight points.
Jonah Dahlman (Braham, Minn./Braham HS) and #Logan Schultz# both scored double figures with 10 and 13 points respectively. Daniel Fragodt had 17 points to lead Morris.
