WHITEWATER, Wis. – The St. Scholastica baseball team's season came to an end today with a 6-2 loss to host and top-seeded University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the NCAA Midwest Regional at Prucha Field.

The Warhawks (40-5), who were the visiting team, scored in the top of the first as the first batter of the game doubled and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly. Later in the inning, after a CSS error extended the inning, Rob Coe hit a two-run home run to make it 3-0.

The Warhawks added to their lead in the second with solo home run by Matt Beyer. The Saints cut the lead in half with their first RBIs of the regional when #Brandon Peterson# (So.-Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley) drove in two with single down the right field line.

The score remained that way until the top of the ninth as both pitchers threw very well. With two outs in the top of the ninth, Jordan Stine hit a solo home run to make it 5-2. After a pitching change, Whitewater added another run to make the final score 6-2.

#Matt Lewis# (Jr.-Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) pitched well in the loss for the Saints. Jason Hooper earned the win for the Warhawks. CSS committed four errors in the contest, which led to two unearned runs. Brandon Peterson (Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs to lead the Saints offensively.

The Saints season will end with a record of 38-8. The Warhawks will face the winner of the University of St. Thomas/UW-Stevens Point tomorrow. CSS will have to say goodbye to six seniors from this year's squad. Be sure to keep up-to-date with csssaints.com for future St. Scholastica baseball news.
