ABERDEEN, S.D. – Just a day after breaking the program record with its 24th consecutive win, the seventh-ranked St. Scholastica baseball team's streak came to an end with Presentation winning game one in extra innings 6-5. The Saints responded by taking game two 18-3.

After yesterday's scheduled doubleheader was rained out, the teams were successful in getting two games in today.

In the first game, Presentation had a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the first to take an early 2-0 lead. The score remained that way until the top of the fifth, when CSS got on the scoreboard with a #Chad Peterson# (Jr.-New Brighton, Minn./St. Anthony Village) solo home run to make it 2-1.

The Saints then took the lead in the top of the sixth with #Tom Juberian# (So.-Park Rapids, Minn.) and #Griffin Bell# (Jr.-Oconomowoc, Wis.) having RBIs in the inning. #David Vogelgesang# (Fr.-Hastings, Minn.) also scored on a Presentation error to make it 4-2.

After two quick outs in the bottom of the sixth, Presentation loaded the bases and got another two-run single to tie the game at 4-4.

The Saints regained the lead in the seventh when #Paul Kolodge# (Sr.-Cloquet, Minn.) scored on a Presentation error to make it 5-4. In the bottom of the seventh, the Saints needed just one more out with a runner on second. However, CSS would commit two costly errors, which pushed a run across to tie the game and send the game into extra innings.

The Saints went down quietly in the top of the eighth and Presentation closed out the game in the bottom half with a RBI-single with nobody out to make the final score 6-5.

#Josh Retka# (Jr.-Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) picked up the loss in relief for the Saints. After having just five hits yesterday, the Saints could only muster six hits in the first game.

In the second game, #Jeff Adams# (Sr.-Two Harbors, Minn.) struck out 10 in the complete-game win and CSS scored seven in the third en route to an 18-3 victory. The Saints had 17 hits and 17 RBIs in game two.

The Saints had eight extra-base hits in the game. #Sean Claugherty# (Sr.-Oakdale, Minn./Tartan), Kolodge, and Juberian all homered in the contest. Kolodge and Juberian had four RBI's apiece and Claugherty was 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Claugherty scored his 180th career run in the game, which is tied for third-most in program history.

The Saints are now 32-4 overall and 17-1 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). Presentation is 17-15 and 14-4 in the league.

The Saints will face fifth-ranked University of St. Thomas for one, nine-inning contest tomorrow, starting at 1 p.m. The game can be heard live on ESPN Radio 560-WEBC.
