ST. PAUL – The seventh-ranked St. Scholastica baseball team scored seven runs in the fifth, including hitting three home runs in the inning en route to a 12-2 victory over Northwestern College today in seven innings.

Today's nine-inning contest against the Eagles was a make-up from a rained out game that was scheduled for April 2nd.

The Saints improve to 30-3 overall and 15-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). This marks the 12th straight season the Saints have reached 30 wins. CSS moved up two spots from ninth to seventh in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)/D3baseball.com poll that was released early this morning. The Eagles drop to 14-17 overall and 7-8 in the conference.

After a quiet first inning, the Saints plated one in the second on a #Tom Juberian# (So.-Park Rapids, Minn.) sacrifice fly that scored #Scott Greening# (Jr.-Antigo, Wis.).

Northwestern would strand the bases loaded in the third and the Saints took advantage in the top of the fourth. #Andy Manos# (Jr.-White Bear Lake, Minn.) had a RBI-single and then Juberian scored on a #Joe Link# (Jr.-Woodbury, Minn.) fielder's choice. #Sean Claugherty# (Sr.-Oakdale, Minn./Tartan) followed with a two-run single to extend his hitting streak to 27 games and make the score 5-0.

In the fifth, #Paul Kolodge# (Sr.-Cloquet, Minn.) hit a two-run home run down the left field line for his second dinger of the season. Juberian followed to make it back-to-back home runs as he cleared the right field fence. After Manos scored on an error, Claugherty stepped to the plate and drilled a three-run home run for his fourth of the season and make it 12-0.

The Eagles hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to make the final score 12-2 in seven innings. The victory marks the 23rd straight win for the Saints, which ties a program record set during the 2000 season.

#David Vogelgesang# (Fr.-Hastings, Minn.) allowed just five hits in five innings to improve to 2-1 on the year. #Kyle Jensen# (Fr.-Wyoming, Minn./Forest Lake), in his first collegiate appearance on the mound, pitched a perfect two innings and struck out two to close out the game. Paul Kolodge (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet Senior HS) was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Sean Claugherty (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) was 2-for-3 with five RBIs to lead CSS offensively.

The Saints will be on the road this weekend as it will face Presentation College for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday and then face fifth-ranked University of St. Thomas on Sunday. Friday's matchup with Presentation will be a doubleheader starting at noon.
