MEN’S TENNIS FALLS IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE

Engelstad wins 16 singles match of the season

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team was defeated by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 8-1 today to mark the end of its regular season.

The Saints finish the regular season with an overall record of 11-10. The Blugolds, who are ranked 10th in the central region according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), improve to 23-5.

The lone winner for the Saints was #Jacob Engelstad# (So.-Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln) at No. 2 singles, as he came out on top by scores of 6-4, 6-4. Engelstad improves to 15-4 in dual matches this season and 16-5 overall. The 16 singles wins is one shy of the program record for most in a season.

The Saints will play in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championships in a couple of weeks on May 7th and May 8th at the Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University Minnesota-Twin Cities. Action will take place Friday night and all day Saturday.
