COCOA, Fla. – The St. Scholastica baseball team won game one with a walk-off home run to win 2-1 and took game two 7-4 on Friday to sweep a doubleheader from Stockton College (N.J.).

The Saints improve to 9-3 on the year with the sweep, while the Ospreys fall to 6-6 on the year with the two losses.

In game one, #Steve Gerten# (Sr.-West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley) broke a tie game with a walk-off solo home run to lead off the bottom of the seventh to give St. Scholastica a 2-1 victory.

In his first collegiate start, junior #David Barningham# (Jr.-Bayfield, Wis./Washburn) allowed a home run in the first inning, but settled in and did not give up another run in the complete game win. That was also Barningham's first collegiate win.

The Saints tied the game in the bottom of the first on a #Brian Marshik# (Jr.-Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View) single that played #Joe Link# (Jr.-Woodbury, Minn.). Both teams finished with five hits in the contest.

In game two, freshman #Michael Swenson# (Fr.-Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake) also in his first collegiate start, pitched a complete game in the 7-4 Saints victory. Just two of the four runs were earned and Swenson struck out six in the contest.

All seven of the CSS runs came in the top of the second inning and all were unearned due to two Osprey errors. #Kyle Moody# (So.-Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo) had a RBI-single in the inning and Joe Link (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) drew a bases loaded walk. However, the four of the seven runs came off of a #Sean Claugherty# (Sr.-Oakdale, Minn./Tartan) grand slam home run over the right field fence.

The Saints will finish their spring trip tomorrow and arguably has their most important games of the trip when they face in-region foes University of Wisconsin-Superior at 9 a.m. and Central College (Iowa) at noon. Both games will be played in Vero Beach, Fla., at the former spring training home of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
