FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The 25th-ranked St. Scholastica baseball team broke open two tie games in the fifth inning with four and six runs, respectively, to sweep a doubleheader from the College of Mount St. Vincent (N.Y.) 10-0 and 11-5 today.
The Saints improve to 6-2 on the year and have scored 10 or more runs in five of the eight games. CSS improves to 3-0 against the Dolphins with the lone other meeting taking place in 2006.
The Saints threatened in the top of the first of game one, with three hits, but came away with zero runs as #Chad Peterson# (
Jr.-New Brighton, Minn./St. Anthony Village) was thrown out at the plate from center field. CSS then loaded the bases with no one out in the top of the fourth, but once again came away with nothing.
CSS finally broke through in the top of the fifth as with the bases loaded and two outs, #Paul Kolodge# (
Sr.-Cloquet, Minn.) was hit to force in

Joe Link (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) then delivered with two outs, driving in two runs to give CSS its first lead at 5-4.
The Dolphins tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the fourth off a St. Scholastica error. However, Link gave the Saints the lead back in the bottom of the fifth, driving in #Kyle Moody# (
