DULUTH, Minn. – If tonight was any indication of what's in store for tomorrow night's second game of the NCHA Peters Cup Quarterfinal, Twin Ports hockey fans will be treated to a barn-burner.

The fifth-ranked St. Scholastica hockey team, seeded number two in the NCHA playoffs, tied the seventh-seeded UW-Superior Yellowjackets 4-4 at Mars Lakeview Arena. The Saints are now 17-4-5 on the year, and the 'Jackets are 9-11-6.

In the first period, the Saints took advantage of a 'Jacket high-sticking penalty and struck first on the power-play at 10:42; #Dustin DeGagne#'s (Sr.- Winnipeg, Man.) slap-shot from the point beat 'Jacket goaltender Bryan Dalbec to put CSS up 1-0. DeGagne's second goal of the year was assisted by #Jordan Baird# (Sr.- Port McNeill, BC) and #Jordan Chong# (Sr.- North Vancouver, BC). The 'Jackets answered less than a minute later when Josh Kesler re-directed a shot from the point, beating CSS goalie #Zach Kleiman# (Sr.- Ottawa, Ont). After a UWS goal was disallowed due to a high stick, CSS closed out the scoring in the first period when #Aaron Spotts# (Sr.- Spokane, Wash.) took a feed from Chong, beating Dalbec low, putting the Saints up 2-1. #Colin Trachsel# (Fr.- St. Louis, Mo.) also assisted on Spotts' seventh goal of the year.

The Saints made it 3-1 in the second when #Jeremy Dawes# (So.- Winnipeg, Man.) collected his 15th goal of the season at the 13:11 mark. #Garet Chumley# (Fr.- Cambridge, Minn.) and #Tyler Miller# (Fr.- Fort Frances, Ont.) had the assists.

Superior rallied with three straight tallies of their own, the first coming just over a minute after Dawes' goal. Chris Wilson scored on a power-play to close the gap within one at 3-2.

Superior opened the scoring in the third when Kesler netted his second of the game three-and-a-half minutes in, and took the 4-3 lead at the 7:19 mark, when Justin Faryna slid in a one-timer from Kesler.

The Saints responded quickly, as 28 seconds later #Brett Corcoran# (Fr.- Parksville, BC) tied the game at four. UWS had a golden opportunity late in the third with a man-advantage, but couldn't capitalize. A five-minute major penalty was assessed to UWS just ten seconds before overtime. The Saints could not benefit from the man-advantage during the five-minute overtime stanza, and the game ended in a 4-4 tie.

UWS outshot CSS 37-32 for the game, giving Kleiman 33 saves for the Saints. Dalbec had 28 for the 'Jackets.

With the Saints and 'Jackets skating to a draw tonight, tomorrow's second game will decide the series. If the game is tied at regulation, another five-minute overtime session will follow. If the two teams are still deadlocked after OT, a 20-minute Mini-Game will determine a winner. If they are still tied after the 20-minute Mini-Game, there will be continuous 20-minute sudden death overtimes to determine a winner.

Face-off for tomorrow's game is set for 7:05 at Mars Lakeview Arena. All of the action can be heard live on ESPN Radio 560-WEBC.
