UWS Beats CSS in the Bridge Battle

DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team lost the Bridge Battle to the University of Wisconsin-Superior 79-39 on Wednesday night at Reif Gym.

In the early moments of the game, UWS's Marcus Helland drained a 3-pointer to give the Yellowjackets the early lead, which they would never surrender.

CSS (2-6) committed 18 turnovers, which would result by the Yellowjackets (8-3) gaining 26 points off of those turnovers. The Saints shot 32-percent from the field in the first half, but only shot 28-percent in the second half.

The Yellowjackets were at one time up in the game by 42 points. UWS shot better from the 3-point line in the first half than they did shooting from the field, with a 3-point percentage of 57 and 44-percent from the field. UWS's total points from the 3-point line equaled the number of total points the Saints scored in the game.

The Saints' #Danny Schmitz# led the team in scoring with 10 points. #Brett Tester# led the Saints with 10 rebounds. Marcus Helland led the Superior with a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds. UWS's bench helped with the win with 20 points led by, Ben Aalfs with 10 points.

The Saints will be off until between the Holidays when they will travel to beautiful Daytona Beach, Fla. and take part in the in the Land of Magic Classic. They will open with Union College (N.Y.) on Wednesday, December 29th at 2:30 p.m. local time.
