CSS MEN SWEEP THE KNIGHTS

NEW ULM, Minn. – With a sweep of Martin Luther College today, the St. Scholastica men's tennis team extended its winning streak to six matches.

The Saints won the first match by a score of 9-0 and the second match by a score of 6-0. CSS now has a record of 10-8 overall and 7-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). The Knights fall to 2-5 overall and to 2-4 in the conference. The Saints extend their conference dual match winning streak to 72.

#Dillon Sterle# (Jr.-Hibbing, Minn.) at No. 1 singles, #Jacob Engelstad# (Fr.-Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln) at No. 2, #Kevin Hilpert# (Fr.-Stillwater, Minn.) at No. 3, #Tucker Combs# (So.-White Bear Lake, Minn.) at No. 4, #Nick Lind# (Fr.-Cloquet, Minn.) at No. 5, and #Andrew Humiston# (Fr.-St. Paul, Minn./Hill-Murray) at No. 6 went 2-0 on the day.

Doubles results were only available from the first match. The No. 1 team of Jacob Engelstad (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) and Dillon Sterle (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) won 8-5. The No. 2 team of Kevin Hilpert (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) and Tucker Combs (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) won 8-2. Finally the No. 3 team of Andrew Humiston (St. Paul, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) and Nick Lind (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) won 8-6.

The Saints will be in action next on Wednesday when they host Northwestern College at the Burns Wellness Commons. They are scheduled to begin at approximately 7 p.m., following the women.
