MEN’S TENNIS GETS TO .500 WITH WIN AT MORRIS

MORRIS, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team improved to 8-8 this season with a 9-0 victory at the University of Minnesota-Morris this afternoon.

The Saints improve to 5-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), while the Cougars fall to 0-4 in the conference.

In doubles, the No. 1 team of #Dillon Sterle# (Jr.-Hibbing, Minn.) and #Brendan Anderson# (So.-Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) won 8-1. #Brian Lindberg# (Fr.-Hermantown, Minn.) and #Tim Dean# (Jr.-Rhinelander, Wis.) at No. 2 doubles took down their opponents 8-2. Finally the No. 3 team of #Tom Schneuer# (So.-Duluth, Minn./Central) and #Nick Lind# (Fr.-Cloquet, Minn.) shut down their opponents 8-0.

In singles, Dillon Sterle (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) did not lose a game in a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Brendan Anderson (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) was victorious at the No. 2 spot 6-4, 6-2. Tim Dean (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander HS) won at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-0 and Brian Lindberg (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) took care of business at the No. 4 spot 6-3, 6-1. Dean and Lindberg have won five straight singles matches. At No. 5, Tom Schneuer (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS) won 6-3, 6-4 and the scores were reversed for Nick Lind (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) at the No. 6 spot as he won 6-4, 6-3.

The Saints will play two matches at Martin Luther on Thursday. The action begins at 9 a.m.
