ASHLAND, Wis. – The ninth-ranked St. Scholastica baseball team now has its longest winning streak of the season with a doubleheader sweep of Northland College today, winning game one 21-10 and game two 13-0.
The Saints have an overall record of 16-2 and are 5-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference. The LumberJacks fall to 2-11 overall and 0-5 in conference play. The Saints are 26-0-1 all-time against Northland. CSS has scored 73 runs in their last five games.
St. Scholastica jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the first three innings of game one and had a 21-1 lead before the Jacks scored two in the sixth and seven in the seventh to cut the CSS victory margin to 21-10. #Paul Kolodge# (

Sr.-Proctor, Minn.) both went 3-for-4. Kolodge had four RBIs, while Wojtysiak drove in three runs. #Sean Claugherty# (

Jr.-West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley) earned the win on the mound, allowing only a run in three innings.
Game two would be a little tighter with the score being 4-0 going into the seventh inning, until the Saints scored nine in the top of the seventh to win 13-0. #Matt Mikel# (

So.-Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep), and #Garrett Groebner# (
Sr.-Poplar, Wis./Northwestern) combined for the shutout. Mikel earned his first collegiate victory, going four innings and striking out four.
Paul Kolodge (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet Senior HS) also had a good second game at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
Steve Gerten (West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) went 3-for-5 with two RBIs.
The Saints will be in action on Thursday when they play a rescheduled doubleheader at Bethany Lutheran, starting at 1 p.m. That doubleheader can be heard on ESPN Radio 560.
