SAINTS SHUT OUT ANOTHER CONFERENCE FOE; EXTENDS STREAK TO 70

MANKATO, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team won its third straight match this afternoon with a 9-0 win against Bethany Lutheran at the Mankato Athletic Tennis Center.

The Saints improve to 7-8 overall and 4-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). The Vikings fall to 2-6 overall and 2-3 in the UMAC. In four conference matches this season, CSS has not lost an individual match. The Saints extend their conference team unbeaten streak to 70 matches.

In doubles competition, #Tim Dean# (Jr.-Rhinelander, Wis.) and #Cody Bottem# (Fr.-Thief River Falls, Minn.) won at the No. 1 spot 8-3 for their eighth straight victory. #Joe Vidmar# (So.-Chisholm, Minn./Hibbing) and #Kevin Hilpert# (Fr.-Stillwater, Minn.) won at No. 2 doubles 8-2 and the No. 3 team of #Brian Lindberg# (Fr.-Hermantown, Minn.) and #Tom Schneuer# (So.-Duluth, Minn./Central) won 8-3.

In singles play, Joe Vidmar (Chisholm, Minn./Hibbing HS) played his first career match at the No. 1 flight and won in straight sets 7-5. 7-6. Kevin Hilpert (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) took care of business at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Cody Bottem (Thief River Falls, Minn/Lincoln HS) won at No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-1. At No. 4 singles, Tim Dean (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander HS) defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-1. Brian Lindberg (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) won at No.5 singles 6-1, 6-4 and Tom Schneuer (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS) topped his opponent 6-1, 6-2.

The Saints will be in action on Tuesday when they play at the University of Minnesota-Morris. The action is set to begin at 3 p.m.
