SAINTS TOO MUCH FOR NORTH CENTRAL

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team improved to 9-0 in conference action with a 9-0 win at North Central University Thursday evening at the Baseline Tennis Center.

The Saints improve to 12-9 overall and extend their Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) dual match unbeaten streak to 74. The Rams fall to 3-5 in the conference.

Winning in doubles for the Saints was the No. 1 team of #Tucker Combs# (So.-White Bear Lake, Minn.) and #Dillon Sterle# (Jr.-Hibbing, Minn.) by an 8-3 score. #Kevin Hilpert# (Fr.-Stillwater, Minn.) and #Tim Dean# (Jr.-Rhinelander, Wis.) won at the No. 2 spot 8-1 and the No. 3 team of #Nick Lind# (Fr.-Cloquet, Minn.) and #Brian Lindberg# (Fr.-Hermantown, Minn.) won 8-0.

In singles, Dillon Sterle (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) won at the No. 1 flight 6-0, 6-0. Kevin Hilpert (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) took care of business at No. 2 with a 6-0, 6-3 victory. Tim Dean (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander HS) at No. 3 won 6-1, 6-1. Finally, Tucker Combs (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) at No. 4, Brian Lindberg (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) at No. 5, and Nick Lind (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) at No. 6, all shut out their opponents 6-0, 6-0. That was Lind's fourth straight victory.

The Saints will have their final regular season match of the year on Saturday when they host the University of Minnesota-Morris at the Burns Wellness Commons. The action is set to begin at noon.
