DULUTH, Minn. – The fourth-ranked St. Scholastica baseball team swept Northland College in one conference contest and one non-conference game this evening at Wade Stadium.
The Saints extend their winning streak to 17 and improve to 26-2 overall and to 14-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). The LumberJacks fall to 8-17 overall and 5-9 in the league. The Saints are 28-0-1 against Northland since 2003.
In game one, the Saints scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth on their way to a 10-1 victory. #Adian Kummet# (
Sr.-Brainerd, Minn.) held the LumberJacks to just two hits and struck out seven to improve to 5-1 on the year.

Sr.-Inver Grove Heights, Minn./South St. Paul) hit a two-run triple in the inning. #Nick Lee# (
Sr.-Carlton, Minn.) also had a RBI-double in the inning as the final score was 10-1.
Nick Lee (Carlton, Minn./Carlton HS) was 4-for-4 with a RBI and
Jake Gaub (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./South St. Paul HS) was 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead CSS at the plate.
The LumberJacks got off to a good start in game two with a three-run blast to center field in the top of the first. The Saints then woke up in the second, scoring six in the inning. #Chad Peterson# (

Fr.-Park Rapids, Minn.) had a two-RBI triple.
Peterson had a RBI in the third and had another double in the fourth to drive in two.
Brian Marshik (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS ) also had a RBI-double in the fourth as the score stood at 12-3 after four. Northland scored on run in the fifth and sixth innings to make the final 12-5.

So.-Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) struck out four and allowed three hits in five innings to win his second decision of the season.
Chad Peterson (New Brighton, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS) was 3-for-3 with five RBIs to pace the Saints offense in game two.
With the threat of inclement weather for the weekend the Saints have moved up their three-game series against Northwestern College to tomorrow. It will be a tripleheader at Wade Stadium with the first game scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
