MORRIS, Minn. – In its 10th game in seven days, the ninth-ranked St. Scholastica baseball team finished up a three-game series at the University of Minnesota-Morris today by securing a 7-1 victory at Cougar Field.

The Saints improve to an overall record of 21-2 and an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) record of 10-0. The Saints have won 12 games in a row, dating back to a doubleheader sweep of Centenary College (N.J.) in last two games down in Florida. The Cougars fall to 3-15 overall and 2-6 in league play.

The first run of the game came in the third inning when #Kyle Wojtysiak# (Sr.-Proctor, Minn.) doubled down the right field line to score #Joe Link# (So.-Woodbury, Minn.). Morris tied it up in the bottom of the third on a wild pitch.

#Tom Juberian# (Fr.-Park Rapids, Minn.) scored on a Morris error and Joe Link (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) had a sacrifice fly to plate #Kyle Moody# (Fr.-Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo) to make the score 3-1 in the top of the fourth. The Saints had another run taken off the board in the inning when it was ruled that #Andy Manos# (So.-White Bear Lake, Minn.) left third base early on a fly out to center field.

The contest remained just a two-run margin until the seventh when CSS added another run on a #Paul Kolodge# (Jr.-Cloquet, Minn.) RBI-single to center to drive in #Brian Marshik# (So.-Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View) and make the score 4-1. The Saints then shattered any hopes the Cougars had of an upset-bid by scoring three runs in the eighth. All three runs were scored off of Morris errors as the Saints prevailed 7-1.

#Steve Gerten# (Jr.-West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley) improved to 3-0 on the year as he allowed just one hit after the third inning. Gerten struck out nine in seven innings of work. Paul Kolodge (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet Senior HS) was 2-for-4 to lead CSS at the plate.

The Saints will hopefully play their home opener Friday night at Wade Stadium when they begin a three-game series against Presentation College. If the field is ready to go, Friday's one game will begin at 6 p.m., while Saturday's doubleheader will start at noon. If you can't make it out to Wade Stadium, the action can be heard live on ESPN Radio 560-WEBC.
