FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The 12th-ranked St. Scholastica baseball team took both games this evening over Hiram College (Ohio), winning game one, 8-0, and game two, 10-5, in Fort Pierce, Fla.
In game one, the Saints got on the board in the top of the first when #Sean Claugherty# (
Jr.-Oakdale, Minn./Tartan) drove in #Brian Marshik# (
So.-Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View) from second base to make it 1-0. CSS extended the lead to 2-0 in the top of second when #Steve Gerten# (
Jr.-West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley) scored from second on a Hiram error. Then after a #Joe Link# (
So.-Woodbury, Minn.) double to right to put runners at second and third with one out, Marshik hit a RBI-single to left to drive in #Tom Juberian# (
Fr.-Park Rapids, Minn.). #Chad Peterson# (
So.-New Brighton, Minn./St. Anthony Village) followed with a RBI-single of his own to make it 4-0.
In the third inning, #Paul Kolodge# (
Jr.-Cloquet, Minn.) hit his second home run of the season to make it 5-0. After the Terriers left the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth,
Steve Gerten (West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) scored from second on another Terrier-error with two outs to make the score 6-0 in the top of the fifth.
The Saints added two more runs in the top of the seventh. With one out,
Paul Kolodge (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet Senior HS) gave it another ride deep to centerfield, but this one hit off the wall for an RBI-double to score
Sean Claugherty (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) from second to make the score 7-0. #Kyle Wojtysiak# (
Sr.-Proctor, Minn.) then had an infield single with two outs to plate Kolodge to make the final score 8-0.

Sr.-Inver Grove Heights, Minn./South St. Paul) got the win on the mound as he went five innings to improve to 1-0.
Paul Kolodge (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet Senior HS) had a double and a home run to pace the St. Scholastica offense.
In game two, the Terriers made things interesting, but the Saints pulled away at the end to win 10-5. CSS took control in the bottom of the second with a four-run inning. The scoring started when
Brian Marshik (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS ) drew a bases loaded walk with no outs to force in #Kyle Moody# (
Fr.-Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo).
Joe Link (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) followed with a RBI infield single to make it 2-0.
Sean Claugherty (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) then drove in two with a single up the middle.
Hiram got all of those runs back in the top of the third with a RBI-double and another double with the bases loaded that scored everyone to tie the contest at 4-4. CSS regained the lead in the bottom half when #Andy Manos# (
So.-White Bear Lake, Minn.) scored on an error to make it 5-4.
The Terriers tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the sixth on a fielder's choice. The Saints responded by loading in the bases in the bottom of the sixth and
Tom Juberian (Park Rapids, Minn./Park Rapids HS) hit a bases-clearing triple into the gap for his first collegiate hit to give CSS the lead back at 8-5. Later in the inning, the Saints drew back-to-back bases loaded walks to make the score 10-5.

So.-Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) picked up the win in relief for St. Scholastica for his first collegiate victory.
The sweep improves the Saints' record to 5-1 overall, while this was the Terriers first two games of the season.
The Saints will be back in action again tomorrow morning when they face Penn State-Behrend, who was a NCAA Regional participant last season, in one, nine-inning game. That game is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. local time.
