MEN'S TENNIS FALLS AT ST. THOMAS

ST. PAUL – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team was defeated by the University of St. Thomas Saturday afternoon by a score of 8-1 at Coughlan Fieldhouse.

The Saints have now dropped back-to-back matches and have a record of 1-2. The Tommies improve to 2-0 overall and have won all seven meetings with the Saints.

CSS lost all three doubles matches, but put up a good fight at the No. 3 flight with the team of #Cody Bottem# (Fr.-Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln) and #Tucker Combs# (So.-White Bear Lake, Minn.) forcing a tiebreaker, but falling by a score of 9-8 (7-5).

The only winner on the day for the Saints came at No. 4 singles where #Jacob Engelstad# (Fr.-Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln) defeated Kevin Walker in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (7-4). The Tommies won at No. 1 singles by default and won the other four singles matches by straight sets.

The Saints will be back in action again on Saturday when they travel back to St. Paul to face Bethel University. The dual match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
