SAINT PETER, Minn. — The College of St. Scholastica fell to Wis.-Stout 14–4 on Monday at a neutral site.
The Blue Devils broke the game open with a big fourth inning, turning a close contest into a multi-run deficit. A leadoff single by Connor Marino and a hit-by-pitch to Mike Pustelnik set the table before a three-RBI hit from Austin Miller extended the lead.
Jonathan Stoeckle (Fresno, CA/Clovis West HS) started on the mound for the Saints, working two innings and allowing three earned runs on four hits with one walk. Payden Joyce (Parker, Co/Lutheran HS) followed with 1 1/3 innings of relief, while Blake Bullis (Inver Grove Heights, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall HS) added two innings with a pair of strikeouts. Nico Gallegos (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) struck out two in 2/3 of an inning without allowing a baserunner, and Logan Price (Phoenix, AZ/Horizon HS) and Jacob White (/) also saw time out of the bullpen.
Offensively, Luke Krull (Greenville, WI/Xavier HS) finished with two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Tyler Tiedeman (Las Vegas, NV/Faith Lutheran HS) recorded three hits with an RBI and a run scored, while Tommy Crupi (Gilbert, AZ/San Tan Charter) doubled and came around to score. Kellan Graning (Becker, Minn./Becker HS) added a sacrifice fly.
St. Scholastica put together its best stretch in the seventh inning, scoring four runs. Crupi led off with a double, Tiedeman followed with an RBI single, and Krull delivered a two-run single before Graning's sacrifice fly capped the inning.
As a result, the Saints fall to 8-6 overall. Up next, St. Scholastica is scheduled to face North Central (Minn.) in a doubleheader on Thursday, March 26, with game one set for 10 a.m. and game two scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at the University of Northwestern–St. Paul due to field conditions in Duluth.
