NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The College of St. Scholastica men's basketball team competed throughout but came up short in a 74–63 road loss at Carleton on Saturday afternoon at West Gymnasium.
The Knights took a 31–24 lead into halftime and extended the margin early in the second half, pushing the advantage to as many as 17 points midway through the period. The Saints continued to generate quality looks and defensive stops but were unable to fully close the gap down the stretch.
Aaron Keykal (Princeton, MN/Princeton HS) led St. Scholastica with a strong two-way performance, finishing with 15 points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two blocks, leading the team in all four stat lines.
St. Scholastica received balanced scoring support behind Keykal, with Davion Butler (South Phoenix, AZ/) scoring 13 points with three assists and Koy Nelson (Port Wing, WI/South Shore HS) adding 12 points with another three assists. The Saints also held an advantage in bench production, outscoring Carleton 13–6 from the reserves.
CSS generated 38 of its 63 points in the paint and stayed competitive on the glass and in transition opportunities. Defensive activity forced eight Carleton turnovers and limited second-chance opportunities for stretches of the contest.
