PELLA, Iowa - The College of St. Scholastica men's soccer team earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon against Central College at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex.
The Saints' defense stood tall throughout the match, anchored by goalkeeper
Ben Hallberg (Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS), who recorded nine saves to secure his second shutout of the season. Hallberg made five stops in the opening half and added four more in the second as Central pressed with 13 total shots, nine of them on target.
Offensively, the Saints were limited to just one shot in the contest, coming from
Patrick McDonnell (Andover, England/) in the 36th minute. Despite the lack of chances, St. Scholastica battled through a physical match that featured 28 combined fouls and seven cards.
With the result, St. Scholastica moves to 0-3-3 on the season. The Saints will look to build on their strong defensive performance as they go on the road to play St. John's University on Wednesday, September 17th at 3:30pm.
