How it Happened
First Half
Goalkeeper Ben Hallberg (Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS) was able to get the ball shortly after the opening kickoff. Only a minute and a half later, the Duhawks were able to find a slot and attempt a shot on goal that Hallberg was able to bring down safely.
Today's game aggressive energy was put on display early, with both teams recording a total of six fouls and a yellow card against the Duhawks only twenty minutes into today's match up.
Along with the physicality of today's game, was a demonstration of working offensive and defensive units on the field. Following the foul spree in the first half, both teams combined for a total of five shots, with Hallberg recording another two saves. Shortly after, the Saints suffered a yellow card of their own.
The first half came to a close after forty five minutes of tough competition, but a standstill score of 0-0.
Second Half
The Saints opened the second half too aggressive for the rules of soccer, and were quickly awarded their second yellow card of the game. This was quickly followed by a shot on goal that was once again saved by Hallberg.
Saints forward Gabriel Marchesoni (Surrey, Canada/) drove his way into the Duhawks end, and found his spot, when he released on his third shot of the game, this time, it narrowly cleared the top of the net.
Hallberg went on to face three more shots, recording two saves, and missing the third that luckily careened off the crossbar.
Nearing the seventieth minute of play, the Saints took on their third yellow card of today's heated non-conference contest.
Nearing the end of regulation, both teams saw nearly as many yellow cards as they did shots, with the Duhawks receiving four more, and the Saints two more.
The end of regulation quickly followed with the score remaining as it had at the opening kickoff, 0-0.
