MONTICELLO, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's golf team wrapped up its competitive season this past weekend, taking part in the Saint John's Spring Invitational. CSS finished in ninth place this weekend, and also broke the school's single-season lowest scoring average with 316.3, which previously stood at 318.
How it Happened
Connor O'Hara (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) topped the leaderboard for the Saints this weekend, as the sophomore posted scores of 77 (+5) and 75 (+4) to finish the weekend in 23rd place with a score of +9. O'Hara also set the new CSS single season lowest scoring average, with an average score of 76.3, breaking the previous record of 76.8
Jon Bertram (Appleton WI./Xavier High School) finished this weekend in 26th place overall in the tournament and ranked second for CSS. Bertam finished his first round with a score of 75 (+3), including an eagle on the par-5 14th hole, and completed his second round with a score of 78 (+7).
Declan Young (Fergus Falls, Minn./Kennedy Secondary School) finished in third for the Saints this weekend, as the junior fired a first round score of 80 (+8), which included four birdies on the back-nine, and completed his second round with a score of 74 (+3). Young wrapped up his weekend with a total score of +11, placing him 34th overall.
Jack Schmitz (Sartell, Minn./Sartell HS) and Jack Gladitsch (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) finished fourth and fifth for the Saints this past weekend, respectively. Schmitz posted an opening round score of 85 (+13), but had a seven-shot improvement in round two, firing a score of 78 (+7), placing him in 62nd place.
Gladitsch scored an opening round 91 (+19), however he posted a team-best improvement from round one to round two, as the junior carded a score of 83 (+12) in round two, which ended with him birding hole 17 to finish 77th overall.
