COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- Trent Beseth (Stanchfield, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) continued his dynamite season with another MIAC championship on Saturday afternoon in Collegeville. After a shaky first couple of attempts, Beseth grounded himself and secured the top spot in the finals on his third throw. After the break, Beseth entered the circle and launched his best throw of the day. His throw of 17.48m gave him the shot put title, as well as the facility record at St. John's. This result crowed Beseth the king of the throws at this year's MIAC championships, after winning the weight throw on day one.

Joshua Monreal (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) gained an All-MIAC honorable mention award with his sixth place finish in the shot put.

In the 600m dash, Noah Kubicek (Owatona, Minn./Owatonna HS) was up against the defending champion in the final heat. Running a perfect tactical race, Kubicek won the break and moved to the lead early. Stringing along the field at an honest pace, Kubicek defended his outside from all challengers. Coming into the final stretch, Kubicek kept finding gears until he sprawled across the finish line in first place. Unfortunately, the previous heat ran faster so Kubicek had to settle for fifth place overall an All-MIAC honorable mention award.

The 4x400m relay team of Sean Alfaro Diedrich (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS), Carter O'Bey (Alborn, Minn.), Derek Douglas (Escanaba, Mich./Escanaba HS), and Kubicek ran their best time of the season to place seventh in the meet. Their time of 3:27.79 is the third fasted 1600m relay team in school history.
