DULUTH, Minn. — St. Scholastica put together a stronger second half but came up short in a 64–56 loss to Wisconsin-Superior on Wednesday at Reif Gymnasium.
After trailing 37–26 at the break, the Saints tightened things defensively and outscored the Yellowjackets 30–27 in the second half. St. Scholastica forced 11 turnovers after halftime and turned them into 10 points, helping the Saints stay within reach down the stretch.
Koy Nelson (Port Wing, WI/South Shore HS) led the Saints with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Davion Butler (South Phoenix, AZ/) added 13 points while going 5-for-5 at the free-throw line, and Drelyn Jones (Franklin Park, IL/East Leyden HS) finished with eight points. Tanner Thomson (Woodbury, MN/Stillwater HS) made an impact defensively with four steals, and Hayden Kloos (Chaska, MN/Holy Family HS) recorded two blocks for the Saints.
Superior was paced by Rocco Paulson's 12-point, 15-rebound performance as the Yellowjackets controlled the glass with a 42–23 advantage.
The Saints are back at home on Saturday, December 13 against Bethany Lutheran. Tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
