Saints Rally Late to Beat Nebraska Wesleyan, Improve to 3-0

STORM LAKE, Iowa - The Saints closed out their weekend in thrilling fashion, erasing a late deficit and powering past Nebraska Wesleyan for a 78-75 win at the neutral-site match up inside Siebens Fieldhouse.

St. Scholastica put together one of its most complete offensive performances of the young season, shooting an efficient 28-of-44 from the field (64%) and knocking down 11 threes to stay in control late. The Saints also showed their toughness at the line, going 11-of-16 in a game where every point mattered.

Davion Butler (South Phoenix, AZ/) led the way with a dynamic showing, pouring in 24 points on 7-of-9 shooting while drilling three triples and going a perfect 7-for-7 at the stripe. Butler's poise down the stretch steadied the Saints during Nebraska Wesleyan's final push.

Right alongside him was Tanner Thomson (Woodbury, MN/Stillwater HS), who added 19 points, including four threes and five steals, consistently shifting momentum on both ends. Koy Nelson (Port Wing, WI/South Shore HS) gave the Saints another lift with 13 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds, while stretching the floor from deep.

Defensively, the Saints created chaos, racking up 12 steals and converting those opportunities into scoring bursts. Aaron Keykal (Princeton, MN/Princeton HS) anchored CSS with a steady all-around performance of 5 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal in 35 high-impact minutes.

Despite 20 turnovers, the Saints overcame their miscues with high-level efficiency and timely execution. They entered the break down three but opened the second-half with composure, using a 14-of-21 shooting effort in the final 20 minutes to surge ahead. CSS held firm in the final possessions, closing the game on a decisive run to seal the victory.

With the win, St. Scholastica improves to 3-0. They play again on November 18th in an exhibition against Minnesota-Duluth. That game will be played at Minnesota-Duluth, tip off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
