Duluth, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team hosted the Auggies from Augsburg University this evening at the Reif Gymnasium. The Saints took a 14-point lead into the halftime break, and continued their dominance in the second half pulling away from the Auggies to take tonight's contest by a score of 67-48.
How it Happened
First Quarter
Kloey Lind (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) scored five of CSS' first 11 points to open the game, with Ava Haus (St. Michael/St. Michael-Albertville High School) nailing a pair of field goals including a three-pointer, as the Saints jumped out to a quick 11-2 lead.
Jada Bierschbach (Richmond, Minn./Rocori HS) was able to convert an and-one moments later, expanding the Saints lead to 14-2.
The Auggies went on a quick 7-0 run to get themselves back into things, as Lind and Haus scored the final four points for CSS to end the quarter leading 18-12.
Second Quarter
Haus opened the second quarter drilling shots from beyond-the-arc on three straight possessions, giving CSS a quick spark to begin the quarter.
Hope Carlson (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) got her first field goal to fall in the contest at the 4:16 mark in the second quarter, followed by a Lind layup courtesy of an assist from Gabby Voigt (St. Michael. Minn./St. Michael- Albertville HS).
Haus converted two more field goals before the halftime break, as the Saints took a 39-25 lead into the halftime break.
Third Quarter
Madison Kenyon (Woodstock, IL/Marian Central Catholic HS) scored the first field goal for the Saints to begin the second half, as Carlson would add four more points on consecutive possessions to make the score 46-32.
Haus notched yet another three-pointer moments later, as she would also add the Saints' final field goal of the quarter, with CSS leading 51-39 heading into the final quarter of tonight's contest.
Fourth Quarter
Haus got two of the Saints' first four field goals to fall, with Lind and Bierschbach scoring on the others, giving the Saints a comfortable 17-point lead.
Later in the quarter, Lind and Kenyon would both get layups to fall, with Maddie Lowe (International Falls, MN/Falls HS) scoring the final points for CSS on the night on a steal and a score, as the Saints took tonight's contest by a score of 67-48.
Top Performers
- Ava Haus (St. Michael/St. Michael-Albertville High School) had her second 30-point performance of the season, as the freshman notched a game-high 31 points while adding a career-high seven three-point field goals in the victory.
- Kloey Lind (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) recorded her second double-double of the season, tallying 14 points to go along with 12 rebounds.
- Gabby Voigt (St. Michael. Minn./St. Michael- Albertville HS) did her part in getting her teammates involved tonight, as the sophomore guard recorded a game-high six assists while grabbing seven rebounds tonight.

The Saints (8-6, 5-2 MIAC) will be back in action this Saturday, January 18, where they will travel to take on the Bennies from the College of Saint Benedict. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
