NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Scholastica baseball team fell in both games of today's doubleheader on the road against the Oles from St. Olaf. The Saints were held to just two hits in game one, falling by a score of 7-0. In game two, the Saints fought its way back into the game after an early deficit, but late runs from the Oles offense would be the difference maker, coming away with a 10-5 victory.
Game One: STO: 7, CSS: 0
The Oles scored the opening run of the game in the bottom of the first inning, scoring a run on a sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead over the Saints.
Jumping to the bottom of the third inning, St. Olaf added two more runs to its total on a two-run home run, extending its lead to 3-0.
The Saints were left without a hit through the late inning, with the Oles expanding on its lead with a four-run bottom of the sixth inning, riding to a 7-0 victory in game one.
Game Two: STO: 10, CSS: 5
St. Olaf struck first in game two this afternoon, scoring on a sacrifice fly, while taking a 1-0 lead over CSS after one inning of play.
After Mitchell Novak (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) opened up the top of the third inning with a leadoff single, Jake Schelonka (Sartell, Minn./Sartell HS) drove him in on an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1.
In the Oles half of the third inning, three runs would cross the plate to reclaim the lead over the Saints, leading now by a score of 4-1.
After the Saints bats went quiet for a few innings, early momentum with a Kyle Oswald (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) single and Alex Haapajoki (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS (Central Lakes)) walk put two men on early in the inning. Novak would drive in the first run of the inning with an RBI single that scored Oswald, followed by an RBI single by Levi Stubbles (San Bruno, Calif./El Camino HS (Skyline College)) to make the game 4-3. The Saints would be able to tie the game in the same inning when Adam Braun (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS (Central Lakes CC)) doubled to drive in Stubbles and tie the game at 4-4.
The Oles got two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two-run home run to lead 6-4.
Oswald brought the Saints to within one run in the top of the seventh inning with a solo home run, his third of the year, and the Saints trailed 6-5.
The Oles came down the stretch and put the exclamation point on the victory today, adding four more runs in the late innings, to take the second game by a score of 10-5.

The Saints (13-8, 3-5) will be back in action on Saturday, where they will host Gustavus at Wade Stadium for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 P.M.
