BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for swimming & diving and indoor track & field Tuesday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Carleton, Gustavus, St. Olaf, and St. Scholastica claimed the Conference's weekly honors. The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff.
Two throwers from St. Scholastica earned recognition for their efforts this past weekend, For the third week in the row,
Trent Beseth (Stanchfield, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) has claimed the MIAC Field Athlete of the week and continues to break his personal best and collected two first-place finishes at the Lake Superior Challenge on 2/3. Beseth broke his own program shot put record with a toss of 16.51 meters (54' 2"). In the weight throw, Beseth had a winning huck of 16.77 meters (55' 0.25"). His shot put ranks 12th in the nation this season while his weight throw is 49th.
For the women,
Lily Beneke (Green Isle, Minn./Sibley East HS) earned her first weekly honor of the 2023-24 season, her fourth overall (2-indoor, 2-outdoor). Beneke won the weight throw competition at the Lake Superior Challenge on 2/3 with a new personal-best throw of 16.85 meters (55' 3.5"). The distance is good for 15th in NCAA Division III this season.
